It is a alert, temperamental and intelligent terrier, for which the typical external feature is a long, soft and shiny coat. Despite his small stature, he is a sharp, courageous and vigilant dog, with a voice and barking. He treats the stranger a little distrustfully and withdrawn, but he is loyal and devoted to his owner. As the Yorkshire Terrier was bred by poor weavers in England, a consistent and patient upbringing is necessary. This breed is one of the smallest dog breeds in the world, they love movement and frolic, so they are also a suitable participant in agility races and other dog sports. Regular movement and employment is very important for this breed. The Yorkshire Terrier is often a robust and resilient breed, which is not hypersensitive or overly perceived as a disease. Maintenance is becoming more and more demanding. The beautiful shiny coat reaching to the ground, whatever we see in show dogs is the result of long hours of care and at the same time a lot of patience from both the dog and its owner. CZ: Jorkšírský teriér je malé plemeno teriérů, které pocházelo ze Spojeného království, kde se využívalo k lovu hlodavců. Dnes se využívá především jako společenský pes, ale stále si zachovává svůj původní charakter. Je to ostražitý, temperamentní a inteligentní teriér, pro kterého je typickým vnějším rysem dlouhá, měkká a lesklá srst. Přes svou malou postavu je to ostrý, odvážný a ostražitý pes s hlasem a štěkotem. K cizincům je trochu nedůvěřivý, ale je loajální a oddaný svému majiteli.
